Last September SOMETHINGGOOD featured a track from Father/Daughter Records-signed Sports, a raucous power-pop group based in Philadelphia. In the post, I (somewhat) innocently stated that there are A LOT of bands called Sports.

Present day, they go by Remember Sports. It’s a welcome re-brand for a band that stands out in every other way — particularly the band’s heartbreaking, diaristic songwriting (courtesy of singer/guitarist Carmen Perry); dazzling, hook-heavy melodies; and boundless, relentless energy.

It’s a timely re-brand, as well. Remember Sports’ third LP (and first release as a solidified group) comes out this Friday, May 18. It’s called Slow Buzz. “The 1 Bad Man,” the third and latest single off the record, is the Song of the Day. It’s highly recommended for fans of artists like Courtney Barnett, Hop Along, Ratboys and Forth Wanderers.
