Saint Paul, Minnesota-based artist Con Davison has spent his musical career drumming for bands like Bad Bad Hats and Dreamspook. Now he’s moving from behind the kit to behind the microphone — embarking on a solo career under his own name.

Davison’s first batch of tunes was recorded last winter in a studio inside an old mattress factory. Among them was our Song of the Day, “Somebody Else,” a dreamy, piano-guided number highlighted by tight percussion (naturally) and the artist’s Thom Yorke-like vocal qualities. It debuted today. I’m thoroughly impressed.
