I’m working on a list of the best albums of 2017 that I didn’t hear until 2018. Spoiler alert: the top spot probably will be Pure Pop For Jaded Punks, the bouncy debut LP from Houston-based K. Campbell. Released in August by Poison Moon Records, it’s a delight — a power pop opus with echoes of Elliott Smith (particularly “Breaking Blue” — it’s unreal), Elvis Costello, The Smithereens and many others.

The Song of the Day is my favorite track from Pure Pop For Jaded Punks, the breezy “Summer Dress.” We’ll have more on K. Campbell in the coming weeks. I’m super impressed.
