The dam is bursting. After an underwhelming December and January in terms of new releases (Jonny Shitbag notwithstanding), February has brought some incredible records from the likes of Born Ruffians, Car Seat Headrest, Soccer Mommy and Ratboys. However, the best is still to come.

The most captivating album I’ve heard this year is from Long Island-based Cloud (aka Tyler Taormina and friends). Plays With Fire, which comes out March 9 via Audio Antihero, is a dynamic, eclectic bedroom pop record that compares favorably to the debut LP from Los Angeles Police Department or Jay Som’s hit Everybody Works (#3 and #4 on our “Top 25 albums of 2017” list, respectively).

Plays With Fire‘s second single, “Two Hands Bound,” is a lovely high-energy track that reminds me of Tame Impala. Check it out:
