If, like me, you were disappointed when Albert Hammond Jr. shot down rumors of a new, Rick Rubin-produced Strokes record, fret not — there’s a Japanese four-piece that makes ebullient garage rock echoing the New York City legends at their height.

But don’t take my word for it — AHJ himself likes the Tokyo-based band DYGL so much he co-produced their thrilling debut LPĀ Say Goodbye to Memory Den (released in April). And his influence shows, particularly on riff-centric tracks like “Let It Out,” our Song of the Day. Listen below.
